Murder Charge Dropped In Rock Island Shooting

Updated:

A murder change has been dropped against one of the suspects in a deadly shooting in Rock Island. According to court records, Kelvin Shaw entered a guilty plea on April 4, 2013, to a charge of obstruction of justice. As part of that agreement, the murder charge against him was dismissed. Shaw was sentenced to one year in jail on the obstruction charge, with credit for time served and released.

Shaw is one of four people charged in connection with a September shooting near 10th St. and 11th Ave that killed 17-year-old Kion Lewis. Andre Shaw, Jordan Murphy and a juvenile were also charged with murder. Andre Shaw's trial is set to begin Monday, April 8th.
