Community Turns Out To Support Family Of Sherrard Fire Victims

Updated:

Community members gathered Sunday to help one family devastated by a deadly mobile home fire in Sherrard. There was a big show of support at Bethel Wesley United Methodist Church in Moline. The fundraiser was for the family of Holli and Jessica Harker, two of the five victims in the fire almost two weeks ago. Hundreds turned out for a spaghetti dinner, bake sale, and silent auction. The money raised  will go to help the family with funeral expenses.
"I've heard many people even say I don't know the family, I'm not a friend of the family, but I'm here to help support with donations," said Rachelle Hayslett, a family friend.
The benefit was hosted by members of Spellious Tae Kwon Do where the Harker girls spent a lot of their time.
