The man under arrest has been identified as Larry Dean Schlemmer, 59, of DeWitt, IA.

A man is under arrest after police in DeWitt, Iowa say he fired a high power rifle at them.

The incident happened around 6:25 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9, 2013, when officers responded to a domestic disturbance call in the 600 block of Westwood Drive.

According to reports, shortly after officers arrived on scene, the suspect came out onto the front porch armed with a high powered rifle and shot once.

Police say he then complied with officer's commands to put the weapon on the ground and was taken into custody without further incident.

According to the report, the suspect was taken to the hospital for minor injuries he received from the rifle scope when the gun was fired. Police say there were no other injuries at the scene.

The suspect was then taken to the Clinton County Jail where he is being charged with intimidation with a dangerous weapon and domestic violence.

Police have not released the name of the suspect.
