Woman Escapes From Coal Valley Fire


A woman was able to escape from a mobile home fire in Coal Valley, Ill., on Tuesday night, April 9, 2013.

Firefighters were called to the 1700 block of West 4th Avenue around 9:00 p.m.

Crews said there were flames coming through the back end of home.

According to reports, a woman was inside, but the smoke alarm went off and she was able to get out in time.

Crews were able to contain the fire fairly quickly but the home has significant damage.

The fire chief says smoke detectors may have saved the woman's life.
