Teen Killed In Crash On W. Kimberly Road In Davenport


Update: The name of the person who died in the accident on Thursday morning in on West Kimberly Road in Davenport has been released. Police say 18-year-old Skylar Reed Kraft, a student from West High School, was the driver of the red Hyundai Tiburon. School officials say counselors will be on hand at the school again Friday to help students cope with the loss.

Earlier post: Davenport Police were called to the scene of a head-on collision on Thursday, April 11, 2013, around 6:30 a.m.

Police say a Medic transport ambulance was traveling westbound on Kimberly Road in a non-emergency mode. A Hyundai Tiburon crossed the center line in the 4600 block and struck ambulance head on.

The driver and only occupant of the car was taken to Genesis East were he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The occupants of ambulance, two medics and one patient, were uninjured, according to police.

Police say the investigation is continuing.

The name of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of family.

Original: The Davenport Police have confirmed that an ambulance was struck by another vehicle Thursday morning around 6:30, in the 4600 block of West Kimberly Road near Wyoming Avenue.

Witnesses say five emergency vehicles responded to the scene.

Kimberly Road was reportedly closed in both directions and drivers were being diverted to Hickory Grove Road.

Davenport Police are asking the public to take an alternate route of travel while the investigation continues.

They add that further details regarding this serious traffic crash will follow.
