On Wednesday morning, April 10, 2013, a corrections officer was attacked at the Clinton County Jail.

The Sheriff's Office says around 7:50 a.m., a commotion was heard in the area of the Attorney/Law Library room at the jail.

Upon investigating, authorities found a correctional officer lying unresponsive in the hallway outside the room.

Officials say the only person inside the room was inmate James Douglas.

When the officer became responsive, she told the responding officer that she was hit when she attempted to move the inmate out of the library room.

The officer was taken to the emergency room where she was diagnosed with a broken nose and a concussion.

Douglas is being charged with willful injury causing serious injury and assault on a jailer, habitual offender.
