Schnucks Releases More Info On Security Breach

Updated:

Schnucks has released more information on its investigation into a credit/debit card security breach.

Between December and the end of March, it determined that nearly two and a half million cards used at 79 of its stores may have been affected.

That includes the store in Bettendorf.

The grocery store chain says that only the card number and expiration date could have been accessed, not the cardholder's name, address or any other identifying information.

Schnucks learned of the cyber attack after customers complained of errant charges or debits.

The breach has since been fixed and banks have been alerted to step up scrutiny of transactions.

The FBI is also investigating.
