Muscatine Company Reaches Settlement With EPA

Updated:

Grain Processing Corporation of Muscatine has agreed to Pay $129,000 fine for violations under the Clean Water Act. The Environmental Protection Agency announced the deal Tuesday, April 16, 2013. According to a news release, the EPA says the company failed to comply with discharge testing and monitoring as well as exceeding limits on discharge in 2011, which could have negatively impacted the Mississippi River.

The EPA says GPC came into compliance after an order to correct the problems was issued on July 29, 2011.

By agreeing to the settlement, GPC has certified that it is in compliance with the Clean Water Act.
