Davenport City Council Request Casino Meeting With RDA

With the city of Davenport currently out of the casino game the Riverboat Development Authority is searching for a private developer. However, city council wants an update. At Wednesday's council meeting aldermen are voting on sending the RDA a letter requesting a meeting, but the RDA has already responded.

The letter from the RDA addressed to Mayor Bill Gluba says the RDA will not agree to a meeting. The letter states it is because the search for a private developer is confidential and the letter says as soon there's a development the city will be notified. It also emphasizes that finding a private developer takes a long time and that's why the city hasn't heard anything.

Mayor Bill Gluba says the idea for a letter came up, because city council wants an update. Gluba says he understands it is too early for a meeting and they have to wait for more developments.

"The council is getting a little impatient they would like to know what's going on," says Mayor Bill Gluba, "I respect the RDA's need to do due diligence to take more time to figure it out, it's a very complicated subject."

Due to a confidentiality agreement with the Isle of Capri RDA members cannot confirm how many proposals have been submitted. The city has confirmed they have submitted 3 proposals that involve tax payer money.
