The following information was released by the City of Davenport regarding the Mississippi River flood:

The Mississippi River crested at 19.12' on Sunday, April 21 and is now receding. Although the crest has been reached, crews are continuing to monitor forecasts.

Public Works Director Mike Clarke says all flood protection is holding just fine and performing as intended. Today's prediction indicates the river will fall below 16' this weekend, April 27 and 28th. At that time, crews will remove the protection barriers from River Drive and open it all the way for the Monday morning commute. We will keep you posted with updates during this week regarding the re-opening of River Drive.

The Davenport Compost Facility remains open.

In other news, the American Red Cross will be setting up shop at Station 3, 35th and Harrison Streets, to distribute household cleaning kits to individuals who had water/damage in their homes during the recent flood events.  The Red Cross giveaway of cleaning supplies will run from 10-AM-2PM tomorrow, Tuesday, April 23rd.
