Overnight Fire In Moline Causes Minimal Damage

Four people were able to safely escape a burning home in Moline, Ill., overnight.

The fire broke out in the 1800 block of 19th Avenue, just before 2:00 Tuesday morning.

According to the Moline Fire Department, the fire started on the front porch and had breached a window on the first floor when they arrived.

There was also a vehicle parked close to the house that caught fire. According to police, it sustained minimal damage.

When firefighters arrived, they were able to get the fire extinguished in under 10 minutes.

They report structure damage to the porch, minimal fire damage to the first floor and minimal smoke damage throughout the house.

Authorities say the fire was caused by discarded smoking materials on the front porch.
