As flood waters slowly recede, life gets closer to normal for many Quad Citians.

Last week, River Drive was closed from the Davenport border to where it splits in Bettendorf so a flood barrier could be built.

With the Mississippi River going down, so is the flood protection.

Effective noon on Tuesday, April 23, 2013, River Drive is open westbound to Tremont Street in Davenport.

River Drive is still closed in Davenport from Tremont on the east to Highway 22 on the west. See attached map for Davenport detour routes.

Truck traffic will continue to use the detour at Fourteenth Street in Bettendorf.

Right now, the Mississippi River in the Quad Cities is at 18.4 feet, about three and a half feet above flood stage.
