The Sylvan Island Bridge in Moline, Ill., is closed due to safety concerns.
With the increase in foot traffic, it has been deemed unsafe for use and will remain closed until engineers can determine how to repair it.
Moline Parks and Recreation Director, Laura Duran says the bridge was constructed in 1901 and hasn't undergone much, if any maintenance over the years.
She says with the park on the island, more people are using the bridge. This has added to the concerns about its safety.
According to Duran, the closure is not related to the recent flooding.
