KWQC Delivers To Riverbend Food Bank

Updated:

There was big donation to the Riverbend Food Bank today, thanks to all of you.

KWQC dropped off your donations to help fight hunger in the Quad Cities.

The food was collected at the recent Women's Health and Lifestyle Fair, sponsored by TV-6.

Attendees were asked to bring a non-perishable food item for admission. We collected more than 4,100 pounds of food and organizers say the need for donations continues to grow.

"We're up to feeding 10,000 people a week through our food pantries of about 300 agencies that provide food assistance," Riverbend Food Band Executive Director Tom Laughlin said. "So, the economy is getting slightly better for some people, but for a lot of people there's still a tremendous need."

The food bank serves dozens of emergency food pantries and soup kitchens in the region.

Admission to the Women's Fair also raised $6,000 for Susan G. Komen For The Cure.
