He is one of the most famous names in the history of drag racing. Arnie "The Farmer" Beswick from Morrison, Illinois still gets a thrill when doing a burnout or attacking the track in his "Tameless Tiger.

Beswick grew up on the family farm in Morrison. That's how he got his nickname. He got his start as a racer in the early 1950's.

Now, Beswick is almost eighty three years old. He still has a passion for drag racing, a sport he has been involved in for about sixty years. A crowd pleaser, a fan favorite, Arnie says he loves the racing atmosphere and the people who come to the race track.

Beswick has won countless races over the years, saying he has very good instinct, a feel for the car, and the ability to get it off the starting line. He says the successful drivers can maneuver a car, even when the front wheels are in the air.

Over the years, he has enjoyed tremendous success driving Pontiacs. In the early days of racing, Beswick says many of the tracks did not even have guard rails or asphalt. One of his favorite tracks is the Cordova Dragway, home to the World Series of Drag Racing. The first time he raced at that track was in 1956.

Arnie plans to race again this season in the Tameless Tiger, traveling at speeds of almost two hundred miles an hour on a quarter mile track. Each of his victories is special. He has left an indelible mark, and says being inducted into the International Drag Racing Hall of Fame is quite an honor.

An innovator and leader in drag racing, Arnie Beswick has never let success get to his head. Always approachable, a gentleman, a Hall of Famer.
