Davenport Schools Discuss The ALICE Program

The Davenport School District will hold a meeting Wednesday night, May 8, 2013 to discuss how to protect students if a gunman ever enters a school.

The program is called ALICE and several area schools have been looking into the same kind of training.

ALICE is an acronym that stands for: Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, and Evacuate. These five components form the basis of the program's age-appropriate training.

The superintendent and police officers will explain how the ALICE program works.

Wednesday's meeting is at 6:00 p.m. at Sudlow Intermediate School in Davenport.

The meeting will also include information about proposed boundary changes for the 2013-2014 school year.

If you can't make it Wednesday, there will be another meeting at the same time at Williams Intermediate School, Thursday, May 9, 2013.
