Quad City Loop Bus Service Changes Approved

Updated:

The Loop bus service will be making some changes in its schedule beginning June 29th.

With federal grant money set to end June 30th, operators found out there was still some money left, so Bettendorf city leaders talked about how to restructure the service at a meeting Tuesday night.

Right now, the special bus service runs from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. Thursday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Sundays year-round. The new schedule will offer service on Friday and Saturdays only, from 5 p.m. until 3 a.m. from June 29 to October 31 and from May to October next year. The city is also considering extending service for special events, like the Bix 7 race.

The Loop service, with its brightly painted retro-style busses, was first introduced in 2010 to fill the nighttime public transportation void in the Quad Cities. It makes stops serving restaurants and nightclubs in the downtowns of Bettendorf, the Village of East Davenport, Davenport, Rock Island, and Moline.
