At a time when many schools are struggling with limited funding, one school has come up with a new way to get high-tech tools to boost learning.

Teachers at Taylor Ridge Elementary School are using the website, donorschoose.org to help bring technology into their classrooms and on Thursday, students got to check out the latest shipment of goods, such as iPods, digital cameras and tablets. Teachers say the devices help get kids excited about learning and levels the playing field.

Donorschoose.org is an online charity designed to help public schools across the country. The teachers learned about the program through Quad City Educators Insurance, which has contributed to the charity website.

In the past year, the Quad City area has seen a total of 69 projects funded through the online organization.
