Man Sentenced In Shooting Death Of Rock Island Teen


A Rock Island man has been sentenced to seven years behind bars for his involvement in a deadly shooting.

Andre Shaw pleaded guilty to felon in possession of a firearm and involuntary manslaughter.

A charge of murder was dropped.

On September 7, 2013, Rock Island Police say 17-year-old Kion Lewis was on the front porch of a home near the intersection on 10th Street and 11th Avenue when he was shot.

Lewis was taken to a local hospital, where he later died.

Three others were charged in connection with the shooting, including Kelvin Shaw who pleaded guilty to a charge of obstruction of justice on April 4, 2013.

The murder charge against Kelvin Shaw was also dropped and he was sentenced to one year in jail. He was given credit for time served and released.
