Bike-A-Thon For Honor Flight

Monday marked one school's third bike-athon to help support the Honor Flights of the Quad Cities. These are the students at West Carrol primary in Savanna, Illinois joining in the effort.

It all started as a teacher's idea to inspire a group of fourth graders and has now turned into so much more.
Kris Yingling with West Carrol primary asked students if they wanted to raise money to try to send a veteran on the honor flight. The children surpassed their goal the first year raising thousands of dollars through a bike-athon.
Each year more children work even harder to show how much they care. With todays effort, the small school has raised more than $13,000 for Honor Flight.

In fact two boys Brady Handel and Andrew Appel each raised more than a thousand dollars each by gathering per mile donations.
