The state of Illinois has the second most insurance claims for dog bites in the U.S.

State Farm records show it received 337 claims for dog bites last year in Illinois, paying out $9 million.

State Farm, based in Bloomington, releases these statistics annually as part of National Dog Bite Prevention Week. 

The U.S. Postal Service, released it's statistics on Wednesday, they say the number of workers attacked by dogs increased last year. Already this yea, local postal carriers have said the trend is rising.
