Contact Lawmakers On IL Pension: Q.C. Chamber Offers Voter Voice

The Quad Cities Chamber of Commerce is concerned about big legislative issues in Iowa and Illinois and is asking for help in making its voice heard. According to a chamber announcement, members sent over 600 messages to local lawmakers through a system called Voter Voice. In Iowa, they reached out in support of education and property tax reform. In Illinois, they are urging pension reform.

While bills on education and property tax reform passed and were signed into law in Iowa, the chamber says work still needs to be done. As the Illinois General Assembly prepares for its June 19th special session, the chamber says it is important that lawmakers hear from business owners and concerned taxpayers on how the unfunded pension can harm the state.

The chamber is urging everyone to contact Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn and other lawmakers using the Voter Voice link.

The idea is to monitor bills and communicate en masse with elected officials on legislation that is important to the Quad Cities.
