DEVELOPING: Option Agreement For Davenport Casino Developer

Updated:

Plans are moving forward for a potential developer for a land-based casino in Davenport.

The senior director of Isle of Capri company is saying tonight it's entered into an option agreement with Kehl Development.

It would provide Kehl with an exclusive, non-transferrable option to purchase Rhythm City Casino. The Isle of Capri currently owns the casino.

The RDA holds the casino's license and recommended Kehl Development in May. Earlier this month the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission gave the okay to move forward with that recommendation.

Kehl wants to build a $110 million casino and resort along I-80. The developer has to finalize the option agreement with the RDA and the city first. Once that's complete, Kehl can move forward with the option and a purchase agreement will be written.

The IRGC will have to give the final approval.
