Handling The Heat For Bix At 6

Updated:

Braving the heat and hoping to start their Bix 7 training off on the right foot hundreds turned out for the first Bix at 6 training run Thursday night. It's where runners and walkers get a chance to try out the course. It starts downtown, goes up the grueling Brady Street hill, down Kirkwood Boulevard toward the East Village and McClellan Heights and all the way back.
Bix 7 organizers say these training runs are very important to get used to the unique course combined with traditionally warm weather.
"It is not like other road races. When you get to the start line and you look up Brady Street hill you know it's like no other race out there. It has challenges, even the second half when you're coming up Kirkwood, you think it's easy. It's not easy," said Bix 7 Assistant Race Director Paul Schmidt.
There are three more Bix at 6 training runs on June 27th, July 11th & July 18th all starting at 6 o'clock. The big race is on July 27th.
