The 27th annual Quad City Air Show is this weekend and Friday, as teams got geared up to put on a great show, Bailey Deitz took flight for a new adventure.
She tagged along with pilot Joe "Rifle" Shetterly in an RV-8 plane which is an experimental, home built aircraft. Rifle took Bailey through things like barrel rolls, loops, and what's called a "Cuban eight."
Rifle, who currently flies an A-10 jet for the Air Force, says he loves coming to participate in air shows like this.
"It's a joy. I grew up pretty much in the air, flying airplanes. I enjoy the challenge of flying an airplane. There's always something new to learn," he said.
The event runs tomorrow and Sunday. Gates open up at 8 a.m. with the main flying acts starting around noon.
