Aerial acts getting ready to take center stage at the 27th QC Air Show.

Tora Tora Tora will be headlining this year. The show is in its 41st year, featuring a reenactment of Pearl Harbor in coordination with aerial acrobatics and pyrotechnics.

"There's something for everyone, fast moving airplanes, a lot of action, explosions," Show Narrator Roger Gauert says.

It's a show that's taking center stage this year, but it takes a lot to get this act into the sky.

"We do it all on timing, so I know when they hand me the microphone, it's three minutes to the airplanes, I know once the first explosion goes off it's about 7.5 minutes until they pull off," Gauert says.

Organizers say they log several hundred practice hours for safety and to make sure the show goes off without a hitch.

"It's more of a timing and coordination effort more than anything else so it's kind of the magic behind the curtain," Pyro Lead Gordon Webb says.

But the show is about much more than explosions and air stunts.

"We combine story with action and drama and we bring the history alive," Gauert says.

The show features a reenactment of Pearl Harbor, honoring veterans and pilots of the past and present.

"This is a chance to get out there and reach people with living history, the history of what we used to do, the greatness that America is, its ability to get out there and reach a lot of people," Gauert says.

"There are people in this country who have sacrificed not only their lives but their time to provide the freedoms we each enjoy every day," Webb says.

The show combines live action with a special memorial.

"We bring the special effects, we bring a history lesson we're remembering our history and veterans also," Gauert says.

Tora Tora Tora will be performing on Saturday and Sunday this weekend.

They'll be last to go on around 4PM both days.
