Davenport Police identified the victim as Amanda Abbott, 25, of Davenport.

Davenport Police, with the assistance of the Milan and Rock Island Police Departments along with the Rock Island Sheriffs Department, arrested Albert "AJ" Coats, 22, of Davenport in connection with the incident.

Abbott's family said Coats was a former boyfriend and that the two regularly saw each other.

Coats was arrested at a trailer in the Highcliffs Estates Trailer Park in Milan, IL. The weapon involved was also found.

Neighbors in the area say about a dozen police arrived at Highcliffs Estates around 5 a.m. Once they located the trailer that Coats was in, a 20 minute standoff ensued, according to the neighbors who watched the scene unfold.

Coats was then taken into custody. He is charged with Second Degree Murder, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, and Theft 3rd Possession of Stolen Property. Coats is currently being held at the Rock Island County Jail.

Meanwhile, Abbott's family spent the day outside her home mourning. They say Abbott's 5-year-old daughter, Destiny, is especially devastated.

Relatives say Abbott was with one of her best friends and Destiny when she was shot.

According to Iowa Courts, this isn't the first time Coats has been in trouble with the law. Most notably, in 2011 he was charged with carrying weapons and was put on probation for a year. He pleaded guilty to that charge.
