UPDATE: The Whiteside County Sheriffs Department says Javier Tiscareno, age 30 of Brookfield, IL, was swimming in the Rock River near the Prophetstown State Park, Prophetstown, when he lost his footing and went under the water.  Friends and witnesses advised they did not see Javier surface and contacted the Whiteside County Sheriff's Office for assistance. Crews will return to continue the search on Monday, June 24.

PREVIOUS STORY:

Police from several cities responded to the Prophetstown State Park to look for a man who went missing in the Rock River.

Police responded to the river around 5 PM Sunday, according to two locals who were on the dock at the time.

These two experienced boaters said the current is very strong on this section on the Rock River - and inexperienced swimmers shouldn't be anywhere near it.

Saukvalley.com - a local paper near Prophetstown reported that police were looking for a man in his 20's.

At least 10 different city search boats responded to search for the body - Prophetstown, Fulton and Dixon were just some of the boats in the water.

Some of the crews started to pull of the water when the sun started to set.

Some stayed out - using search lights and search dogs to try and locate the body.
