Spruce Hills Accident Causes Traffic Snarl

Updated:

An accident on Spruce Hills Drive near I-74 in Bettendorf, Iowa caused traffic headaches Thursday morning, June 27, 2013, and sent three people to the hospital.

Officials say two cars had come from the off-ramp of northbound I-74 and began to turn west onto Spruce Hills Drive after the light turned green.

The vehicles were side by side in the turn lanes when a van failed to stop at the red light and struck both vehicles.

The van struck the car in the closest lane to it, which then caused it to hit the car next to it.

The driver of the van as well as the driver and passenger of the first car hit were all taken to the hospital.

The driver of the second car hit was treated and released at the scene.

The accident is under investigation with possible charges pending.
