Governor Terry Branstad Starts Rolling Billboards

Updated:

Iowa Governor Terry Branstad is hoping a new announcement drives home an important message. He took an interesting mode of transportation to this morning's announcement, a rolling billboard.

Convention and visitor's bureaus in nine communities joined in on the rolling billboards to promote attractions in their towns.

"You probably noticed my ride today was a bit out of the ordinary," Branstad said. "That's because Iowa tourism office and nine Iowa communities around the state have partnered with the alcoholic beverage division to literally drive the message about tourism opportunities in Iowa all around our state."

The Des Moines trailer encourages travelers to "catch unexpected moments" and includes Iowa Cubs baseball and the state capitol. Images on the trucks also include the Fun City Waterpark in Burlington.

The estimated value of the advertising is about $60-thousand per year.
