Gracie the Golden Retriever will be spending July 4 in Prescott, AZ.

"She's actually a very good traveler," said Janet Bremer, Gracie's handler. Gracie is K-9 Comfort Dog at Trinity Lutheran Church and School in Davenport but the four-legged soother is preparing to spend the next several days out of town. The dog is giving those impacted by wildfires in Arizona some much-needed comfort.

"Visiting with the firefighters and their families," said Bremer. "The families of those who were killed in the fire."

Gracie's job is to be there for people to hug and pet. Her presence is proven to be a calming influence.

"She's very calm. She's not allowed to jump on people or lick or bark or anything like that."

Gracie was also deployed to Moore, OK after a devastating tornado plowed through the region killing dozens of people and flattening homes and businesses.

While she spends a lot of time in areas that have endured tragedy, Gracie also spends many of her days in schools and nursing homes.
