Blues Fest Preparations After Flooding

The 29th annual Mississippi Valley Blues Festival kicks off July 4th and preparations for the three-day will go well into the night.

High river levels caused organizers to move the event from LeClaire Park to Second Street in Davenport and some of the set-up could not be started until after Red, White, and Boom! Completed.

"We have workers that are coming after midnight to set up for tomorrow," said Karen McFarland. "It's been a big challenge but as usual we have dedicated volunteers."

The "Bandshell Acts" will perform on an east-facing stage near Ripley Street.
Blues Fest runs through Saturday, July 6th.
