Quad Cities Gear Up For A Great Week Of Golf

Some of the best golfers in the world are arriving in the Quad Cities on Monday, July 8, 2013, for the John Deere Classic.

Some players who arrived in town early got in some practice over the weekend at the TPC at Deere Run in Silvis, Ill.

The hospitality suites and grandstands are already in place and many people agree the course is again in great shape, thanks to the late spring rain.

"There's some good rough this time. Compared to last year when we didn't have any rough after a month of 100- degree weather so. This year's been pretty good and it's a lot different from last year. Lets tee it up,  I'm ready to go."

About 20 professionals will take part in Monday's mini pro-am, while most of the field of 156 players begins arriving for practice rounds later in the day.

The main Pro-Am is Wednesday and then the $4.6-million tournament runs Thursday through Sunday.

Tuesday, July 9, 2013, is youth day, offering free admission to those 18 and under. They can watch practice rounds as well as a trick shot performance scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
