The Burlington Fire Department was called to a possible attic fire at 423 N. 3rd Street at 08:49 a.m., Monday July 8, 2013.

When firefighters arrived, they found light smoke coming from the second floor of the two-story wood frame home.

Upon entering, they found flames in the walls between the second floor and the attic.

According the fire report, they were able to knock the seat of the fire down quickly.

Officials say the single family home sustained an estimated $100,000 in damage to the structure and contents and is insured.

The owners of the home and their two granddaughters were all home at the time of the fire and were able to evacuate unharmed after being alerted by smoke detectors.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, however the fire marshal says it is not considered suspicious.

Firefighters remained on scene until 10:43 am.
