Davenport Police say 51-year-old Joseph Howard VanHecke of Davenport, Iowa, has been charged and arrested in connection with the death of 45-year-old Douglas Whalen.

Police say Whalen died as a result of injuries sustained during an altercation with VanHecke, while attending a private party at Modern Woodman Park on June 13, 2013.

On Monday, July 22, 2013, VanHecke, was taken into custody in Davenport and booked in at the Scott County Jail.

VanHecke was charged with involuntary manslaughter and assault with serious injury.

Both charges are class D felonies.
