Moline city leaders are discussing a proposed agreement with the Quad City Airport that could mean years of expansion, growth, and development.

They're voting to approve an agreement with the QC International Airport. Moline wants to annex properties near the airport like the Hampton Inn Hotel and the Armory land where the new Holiday Inn Express will be.

Moline would then benefit from the property taxes, water, sewer and sanitary revenue as well as a 7% hotel-motel tax that goes toward tourism and the general fund. Then, businesses that build on or near airport property can have all the advantages of being incorporated in Moline.

"Moline wanted to have property annexed into their city if they're going to run water and sewer to any new properties," said Bruce Carter, Director of Aviation at the airport.

But the city says it's most excited about the annexation of the Armory land because it's located south of the airport.

That will leave room for future growth and the potential for residential development.
