President Obama To Speak In Galesburg, Ill. Today

National spotlight on Galesburg, Ill. Today, as President Obama is expected to speak at Knox College on Wednesday, July 24, 2013.

About 500 tickets were given out, but not everyone who wanted one got one.

Many just want the opportunity to see a sitting president in person, but others want to hear what he has to say about the country's future.

Those with the white ticket will have the chance to hear the first of several speeches the president is planning, speeches that will layout his vision for rebuilding the economy.

Every ticket-holder here today will hear about America's economic progress, current challenges and what's next in president's plan.

Last week it was announced the president, who is no stranger to Galesburg, will be here to talk about immigration, the economy, pre-school education and many other issues.

In a press release from the White House, the president will also discuss his age old philosophy, the American economy works best when it grows from "the middle out not the top down."

This isn't the first time the president has visited Galesburg.

Megan Scott from Knox College says the school welcomes his return.

"This will be his third visit to the Knox College campus, He's come to Galesburg more times than that, but he came to Knox shortly after announcing he was going to run for Senate in 2004."

"It's really an honor for us for the college, for the community. We're just so honored and proud that he's chosen to come back here and speak on the economy in Galesburg and at Knox."

Obama's visit to Galesburg Wednesday won't be his only stop.

He will head to Missouri and Florida to deliver speeches about the slowly recovering US economy as well.

The president will be speaking at 11:50 a.m. in the Memorial Gym at Knox College.
