Two Structure Fire In East Moline

Fire crews were called to the 1300 block of 17th Street East Moline, Ill., just after 6:30 on Monday morning, July 29, 2013, to battle a two structure fire.

Officials said both structures were fully engulfed. One had extensive damage, while the other had more moderate damage.

The East Moline Fire Chief, Robert DeFrance said the close distance between the structures was the reason the fire spread.

According to the Chief, crews were able to easily extinguish the flames, but had some difficulty with hanging power lines.

Fire crews responding to the scene included Silvis, Rock Island Arsenal and Moline as well as East Moline.

At the scene, Chief DeFrance told KWQC there was another fire just one block down that happened around 4:30 a.m. He says they are considering that fire suspicious.
