Iowa Corn Fed Girls

Updated:

It began over coffee and took off from there. Four women from Bellevue, Iowa, who years ago decided to form a band.

Barb Eggers plays lead guitar. Cheri Griebel is on bass guitar.  Julie Scheckel was drafted as a drummer and Carol Scheckel  plays tambourine. They are known as the Iowa Corn Fed Girls and have been together for about 30 years.

They specialize in old time country music and Carol Scheckel loves this type of music which tells a story.

The band was formerly known as the Bellevue Good Timers until that day in Chicago when the person introducing them could not remember the band's name.  So, instead, he sprung a  new one on them. He said they are all from Iowa and they all look corn fed to me. That's how they got the name Iowa Corn Fed Girls.

They've  performed in parades, and won big at the Iowa State Fair. Recently, they entertained folks at the Maquoketa Care Center.

The ladies, making music, and helping people smile for decades.
