UPDATE: Crews finished emergency repairs to the 16" valve on Tanglefoot Lane overnight.

Work is currently underway to replace another valve at the intersection of Tanglefoot Lane and 29th Street.

This valve was originally undergoing repairs when the 16" valve broke causing crews to re-direct their attention to that first.

Water is expected to be restored later this afternoon (Thursday, August 1, 2013) around 4 PM.  

The precautionary boil advisory for affected customers will remain in place until 5 PM on Friday, Aug. 2.

ORIGINAL: Iowa American Water crews are currently making repairs to a broken 16-inch water main valve in Bettendorf this evening (Wed., July 31). The work is occurring on Tanglefoot Lane between 18th Street and Devils Glen Road.  Work will continue overnight until repairs are complete.

We have about 250 customers currently without water while repairs are being made.  Once water service is restored, these affected customers will be under a precautionary boil water advisory until 5 PM on Friday, Aug. 2.  

Customers in the following locations are affected:

  • Asbury Ct. and Tanglefoot Lane to New Lexington Dr.
  • Cedarwood Ct., south of Tanglefoot Lane
  • East Wood Ct., south of Tanglefoot Lane
  • Cedarview Ct., south of Tanglefoot Lane
  • Maplewood Drive, south of Tanglefoot Lane
  • Willowood Drive south of Tanglefoot Lane
  • 29th Street south from Tanglefoot Lane to Sunburst Drive (Residents on Sunburst Drive are not affected.)
  • Dawn Court
  • Glenview Drive
  • Tanglefoot Lane from Devils Glen Road to Rollingwood Ct.


Customers affected by the precautionary boil advisory should bring any water used for consumption to a rolling boil for one minute before using for drinking or cooking.

Water service will be restored as quickly as possible.

Iowa American Water apologizes for any inconvenience this emergency repair work causes to customers and thanks them for their cooperation and understanding.
