UPDATE: Atalissa Man Charged After Chase



On November 8, Howell was sentenced to 5 years in prison for eluding and 2 years in prison for possession of a controlled substance. He also faces multiple fines. 


An Atalissa, Iowa man is in jail after sending police on a high speed chase last weekend.

Early Sunday morning, July 28, 2013, police say they attempted to pull over 51-year old Brian Howell for a traffic violation.

According to police, Howell fled the scene and led police on a chase before eventually ending up in a cornfield off Alatissa Road.

Police say he fled the scene on foot into the cornfield.

In the vehicle, police found methamphetamine and marijuana.

Howell was captured on Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at his home in Atalissa.

He's being charged with felony eluding, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, driving while revoked, among other charges.

Howell is being held in the Muscatine County Jail on a $5,000 bond.
