Powerball Jackpot Reaches $400 Million

There were no Powerball jackpot winners over the weekend and as of Tuesday morning, August 6, 2013, the jackpot had ballooned to a whopping $400 million.

Lottery officials say, every time it rolls over, the jackpot increases by at least $10 million.

The $400 million jackpot is equal to $230.3 million in cash if the winner chooses the cash payout.

While $400 million is a lot, it's not close to a lottery record. The largest prize ever was $656 million won in the Mega Millions contest on March 30, 2012.

The biggest Powerball jackpot was $590.5 million, won in Florida in May by an 84-year-old widow.

The next scheduled drawing is Wednesday, August 7, 2013.
