Ronald McDonald House To Expand QCA Service

Updated:

Providing comfort for families in need, the Ronald McDonald House in Iowa City has been serving residents of Eastern Iowa for decades and now the organization is expanding their services to cover more ground.

Representatives say by doubling their territory they will be able to provide better services to families in areas like the QCA that have shown great need.

"In 2012, about 30% of the families that stayed at the Ronald McDonald House came from Scott and Rock Island county," said Kristin Roberts, executive director of RMHC of Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois. "So for us to be able to expand and have our grants and scholarship programs also able to reach into this area was very important for us. The base is already here for who we serve at the house, and now it's an ability for us to reach out even further."

Organizers say Ronald McDonald House has already donated $70,000 to 13 non-profits in the QCA.

Money put in donation boxes at local McDonald's restaurants will now funnel to RMHC of Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois to help fund the Ronald McDonald House in Iowa City and the organizations grants and scholarships.
