The Jo Daviess County Sheriff's Office is asking the public to be on the lookout for valuable coins that were stolen last week in Galena, Ill.

The burglary happened at an antique store during the late evening of August 1, 2013, or early morning of August 2.

According to the sheriff's office, items taken during the burglary were "many, many valuable coins."

The coins consisted of several Morgan and Peace dollar coins, premium pype coins, and other valuable half cents, 2 cent pieces, nickels, dimes, quarters, and halves.

Officials say an unknown subject or subjects forced entry into the building and committed thefts.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dubuque/Jo Daviess Crime Stoppers at 800-747-0117 or the Jo Daviess County Sheriff's Office at (815) 777-2141.

Persons providing information that leads to an arrest or recovery of property may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.00.  Potential callers are reminded that they may remain anonymous.
