A Clinton County man, who was behind the wheel when a crash killed two of his friends, will now share his story of consequences as part of an alcohol awareness program.

Justin Sparks was 19 when he was sentenced to 60 days in jail and five years probation for vehicular homicide and driving while drunk. In July of 2011, Sparks was driving when the vehicle ran into a ditch near Miles, Iowa, hit a tree and the two passengers were ejected. 19-year-old Jed Rogis of Clinton and 18-year-old Kristin Hanrahan of Delmar were pronounced dead at the scene.

The Gateway ImpACT Coalition is hosting an event titled "Underage Drinking=Loss Beyond Measure" on Thursday, Aug. 22. Sparks and his mother will share their story of personal consequences from underage drinking. The event is open to the public and those who attend will also receive tools and resources for talking with youth about underage drinking.

The program begins at 7 p.m. at the Church of the Open Door at 816 13th Ave North in Clinton. For more information, contact Gateway ImpACT Coalition at 563-241-4371 or visit www.gatewayimpactcoalition.com <http://www.gatewayimpactcoalition.com>.
