Iowa American Water announced today the company's acquisition of the City of Dixon, Iowa's water system. The purchase of the water system adds 104 customers to the company's customer base. The city of Dixon's population is 251 residents; it is located approximately 15 miles northwest of Davenport.

Iowa American Water's service crews will spend Saturday, August 17 changing out as many water meters in the City of Dixon's water system as possible. Existing Dixon water meters are not compatible with Iowa American Water's meter reading and billing systems, according to company officials. Dixon customers should expect to receive their first bill from Iowa American Water in late September.

"We look forward to serving the residents of Dixon as their new local water service provider," said Randy Moore, president of Iowa American Water. "We want residents to know that we sincerely appreciate their cooperation during this transition period. We will work hard every day to supply them with high-quality water and exceptional customer service." Moore noted that Iowa American Water will continue to work in partnership with Dixon officials who have helped make this successful public-private partnership a reality.
