Quad Cities On Track For 9th Driest August

Updated:

The Quad Cities has enjoyed California-like weather with warm, dry days, cool nights and little to no rain for much of the month of August. Now, meteorologist Kevin Phelps says the Quad Cities is on track for the 9th driest August on record.

For the month so far, only .76 of an inch of rain has fallen. The average rainfall for August is 2.65 inches. Only three days in August had measurable rainfall, with the last time on Aug. 7.

While the area experienced a drought last year, this year's unusually wet spring is still holding off any cause for alarm. For the year, rainfall is more than 7 and a half inches above normal.
