2013 ACT Scores: Iowa And Illinois Results

Updated:

A report on ACT scores is out and Iowa is tied for second place. The college entrance exam is given to high school students across the country.

This year, Minnesota led the nation with an average composite score of 23, out of a possible 36. Iowa and Wisconsin came in second at 22.1. Illinois had an average of 20.6; however, only 54 percent of the nation's graduating high school students take the ACT test. Nine states require it, including Illinois. According to the  Illinois State Board of Education, that means 100 percent of the 160,066 students in Illinois took the exam, including those with disabilities or with no intention of going to college. The Iowa Department of Education reports that 66 percent or 22,526 high school students took the test.
