Dixon, IL Police Officer Dragged By Car


A Dixon, Illinois police officer was injured after being dragged by a suspect's vehicle Sunday, Sept. 1, 2013.

According to police, around 8 p.m, officers were called to the 800 block of Fellows on a report of a disturbance. During the response, one officer was dragged as the suspect fled and refused to stop. The officer suffered minor injuries.

A vehicle pursuit was initiated and the suspect eventually crashed on Illinois Rt. 2 near Sink Hollow Road. The driver was taken to a local hospital and then air-lifted to a hospital in Rockford for treatment of injuries. His condition is not known and his name has not been released.

The crash is being investigated by a Lee County Sheriff's Department accident reconstructionist.
