Moline Police were notified about an incident that occurred near John Deere Middle School, after school hours, on Tuesday, September 3, 2013.

Superintendent, Dr. David Moyer says a car, with what was believed to be teenage boys, pulled up along side some middle school girls about a block from the school.

According to Moyer, administration was supervising about a block away and quickly moved toward the scene. The girls moved away from the vehicle and the car took off almost immediately.

Parents of Deere students were notified after the incident and school leaders plan to send safety tips home with students on Wednesday.

Detective Scott Williams with the Moline Police Department says an investigation is underway, but he doesn't believe this was a "credible attempt of anything," but rather teenagers joking around.

This follows two separate incidents that happened in the district on August 23, 2013, one of which involved a John Deere Middle School Student.
